Chin & Cheek Surgery – BEAUTY BY DESIGN, Las Vegas
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Dear Prospective Patient,
Thank you very much for inquiring about chin and cheek cosmetic surgery. I have 16 years experience
performing maxillofacial surgery, which began at Stanford University Medical Center. I have published over ten
peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts and ten book chapters regarding maxillofacial surgery as well as facial
plastic surgery.
The cheek or mid-facial area can be augmented or enhanced by using a dermal filler (Restylane, Juvaderm and
Radiesse), fat grafting, silastic implant, on-lay cranial bone graft or by cutting the cheek or zygomatic bone and
pushing it forward and outward.
The chin can be augmented by placing a silastic chin implant or by sliding the anterior part of the lower jaw
forward, called a sliding genioplasty. There is only one method to reduce an anterior lower jaw bony excess, also
known as a prominent chin. This cosmetic contouring of the chin is performed by sanding down the excess bone.
I will review the benefits and limitations as well as surgical techniques of each of these methods.
When using facial implants, I prefer those manufactured by a company known as Implantech. The company has
a long track record, high quality assurance, continued research in this areas and is recommended by expert
surgeons in facial plastic surgery.
With facial fat grafting, fat is harvested from the body, usually the abdomen. The fat is processed using the
PureGraft lipodialysis method and then placed with an extremely small blunt cannula. The fat is placed in all
areas of the face, especially the upper and lower lips, under the eyes (tear trough), under the cheek prominence
(submalar area), and along the folds adjacent to the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds, mesolabial folds).
I completed a residency and fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center and remained there as a clinical
professor for seven years. I am quadruple board certified including the American Board of Facial Plastic &
Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. I am founder the Center of Excellence for
Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and the Center of Advanced Liposuction and have a practice in Las Vegas,
Nevada and Laguna Beach, California.
I have given twelve training courses for surgeons, both at Stanford University Medical Center and in private
practice, regarding maxillofacial surgery and facial fat grafting. I am a national trainer for both Water-Jet
Assisted Liposuction (Body-Jet) and Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction (VASER), the PureGraft method and face &
body fat grafting.
During your initial free consultation, we will discuss your esthetic concerns and discuss your treatment options.
