Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) – BEAUTY BY DESIGN, Las Vegas
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Dear Prospective Patient,
Thank you very much for your inquiry regarding abdominoplasty surgery, also known as a “tummytuck”. The two
options for body contouring of the abdomen and hip area include: 1. body liposcultping (removing fatty tissue)
2. abdominoplasty (removing both fatty tissue and excess skin).
I have 16 years experience in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery with completion of residency and
fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center and remained there as a clinical professor for seven years. I am
quadruple board certified including the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Board of Facial
Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. I am director of the Center for Advanced Liposuction in Las Vegas, Nevada as
well as Laguna Beach, California.
Dr. Robert J Troell, FACS, FAAFPRS, FAACS, FAAOHNS, FAASM is known as an expert by his peers and is a national trainer for two techniques in body contouring. He has presented multiple presentations and training courses in the last several years:

If the amount of excess skin is predicted not to tighten satisfactory from liposuction alone, excision of fatty
tissue and skin will be recommended. Standard or traditional abdominoplasty is nearly always performed under
general anesthesia with a low abdominal incision with suturing of the abdominal muscle (rectus muscle). This
has the best outcomes, but carries the most discomfort and cost.
Avelar lipo-abdominoplasty uses liposuction to thin the abdominal tissue and then excise excess skin. Since it
combines these two techniques, it is referred to as a “combi-tuck”. Most patients can be done with a wetting
solution containing local anesthesia under the skin, tumescent anesthesia, along with oral sedation
supplemented by mild intravenous sedation.
The recovery with the Avelar lipo-abdominoplasty is longer than liposuction with three to seven days requiring
narcotic medication, however, much shorter than traditional abdominoplasty. The Avelar tummy tuck can
expect mild bruising and swelling and patients can return to work much sooner, often within five to ten days. Dr
Troell works with other specialists to provide a safe and aesthetically pleasing result. The outcome has a higher
incision and less dramatic changes than standard approach.
During your initial free consultation, we will discuss your esthetic concerns and discuss your treatment options.
