How Water-Jet Assisted (Body-Jet) Liposuction Works:
There is a significant difference between the currently practiced liposuction techniques. The “traditional” liposuction procedure uses a more “invasive” approach that includes general anesthesia, 10 to 15 mm length incisions, large bore cannulas, and a single arm to-and-fro movement for fat removal.

Water Jet Assisted Liposuction gets its name from a powerful jet of water that is released from the cannula tip. This water jet is strong enough to remove fat cells without traumatizing other tissues, nerves or blood vessels, and the released fat cells are immediately picked back up by the cannula to limit tissue swelling and the problems associated with fluids.
The Water Jet Assisted Liposuction procedure requires minimal sedation, and most of our patients report only low to mild pain in the immediate post-operative period and require little pain relief after the operation. In fact, most of our patients are 100% pain-free by the fourth post-operative day and are able to recover quickly and return to normal activity rapidly.
Why Fat Grafting using Water-Jet Assisted Liposuction is superior:
Fat Harvesting and Fat Grafting using Water-Jet Assisted (Body-Jet) Fat is superior to that from laser lipolysis, such as Smartlipo and SlimLipo, and suction-assisted liposuction. Fat collected during the Water-Jet Assisted procedure have intact cell membranes, which increase the fat survival during the fat grafting phase. Placement of small aliquots of fat via blunt tipped fat grafting cannulas support growth and a blood supply (vascularization) upon placement in facial or body areas. The fat used as a filler is permanent, in contrast to dermal fillers, such as Restylane and Juvaderm, which are temporary.
The advantages of Water-Jet Assisted Liposuction is less pain, bruising and swelling with a low revision rate, however, the biggest advantage is superior fat harvesting with a fat grafting survival rate of 80%. The fat grafting survival rate with traditional suction-assisted liposuction is, at best, 60%. The main limitation of the Body-Jet technique is the inability to achieve high definition body contouring.
